Whitman Youth Soccer League is committed to helping youth of varying ages and skill levels through the sport of soccer. As such, WYSL currently offers four distinct soccer programs -- summer recreation, summer travel, fall travel for middle-school players, and winter indoor.
The WYSL In-house recreation league focuses on fun and building basic skills for kids age 5-10. There are no tryouts. Teams are co-ed and will play other WYSL teams on Marcus Whitman school fields. Practices and games start at 6:30 p.m. on weeknights during the season, which starts in mid-June. Generally, the kids practice/play twice a week. The cost is $40.
The Wayne League (Wayne Finger Lakes Youth Soccer League or WFLYSL) is a more competitive league, with teams throughout Ontario and Wayne counties. Players age 11 or older are in this program. There may be tryouts, depending on the number of interested players. Generally, the kids practice/play twice a week. Travel to away games is required, though carpooling probably is available. The cost is $85.
In the Fall, WYSL enters teams in the Canandaigua Area Soccer League for players in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. This is a semi-competitive league, but there are no tryouts. The teams may be coed. Generally, the kids practice and/or play twice a week. Games are played at Baker Park in Canandaigua. The cost is $50.
